Leann McLaughlin, a Uro-Oncology CNS who specialises in prostate cancer at Inverclyde Royal Hospital, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, has won Urology and Continence Nurse of the Year at the British Journal of Nursing (BJN) Awards 2025. The prestigious event was held at the British Medical Association House, London on 21 March 2025.
Leann states “I was very shocked and delighted to win this, it is lovely to be recognised for the work I do. I am passionate about improving patient experiences and improving quality for cancer patients as a previous cancer patient myself, which has driven my career. The evening was a fantastic celebration of some really incredible nurses from various specialisms which was lovely to see. I am grateful to the judges from British Association of Urological Nurses and Association for Continence Professionals”.
Leann is currently training in transperineal biopsies to help improve her service, is undertaking a clinical doctorate and is currently on the clinical advisor group for Prostate Cancer UK having previously been one of their Clinical Champions.
