The British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) launched a new web app in June 2024 [1] at their annual meeting in Birmingham. This innovative platform is designed to enhance the user experience for members.Unlike traditional apps, the BAUS web app is accessible through any web browser, offering a seamless experience across different devices with improved touch navigation. The web app also provides customisable and personalised content curation for BAUS news and resources.

Navigation

Upon logging in with your BAUS credentials, the app’s navigation is conveniently located at the bottom of your mobile device. The user interface is simplified into five main sections: Home, Newsletters, Groups, Calendar, and Profile.

  • Newsletters: Tailored to your practice based on your selected groups (sections and regions), ensuring you receive relevant updates.
  • Groups: Allows you to manage your affiliations with various sections and regions directly through your profile settings.
  • Calendar: Displays upcoming BAUS events, which can be filtered by event type, region, or section.
  • Profile: Contains links to manage your membership details, including section and region preferences, and provides access to the BJU International and the Journal of Clinical Urology.

Conclusion

While not revolutionary, the BAUS web app significantly improves the usability of the BAUS website, making vital resources easily accessible with just a tap. It represents a significant advancement in member communication through enhanced personalisation.
